Weigh-In 2/23/10 (a/k/a “A WTF Moment”)

Hi everybody!

Today I stepped on the scale for my *official* weigh-in and I’m sure the look on my face was priceless.  I proceeded to step off the scale, wait for it to turn off, poke it with my foot to reset it, hop back on, check out the weight it stated and then repeated the whole process two or three more times.  At one point, I even grabbed a big bottle of vinegar that was sitting nearby (long story….) and hopped back on just to make sure that it wasn’t just giving me the same total every time because of a glitch.

Why my disbelief?  Well, I’ve already mentioned how I did great all last work week and then totally blew the weekend.  Let’s just say pizza, pizza, pizza or is it “Pizza!Pizza!” as they would say over at Little Caesars?  Of course, there were a multitude (I seem to be liking that word lately) of other not-so-good for me foods making their way to my stomach over the weekend, too.

So when I saw a number 1.2 pounds lower than last week’s, that’s where the WTF moment came into play.  But you know what?  I DID do good last week.  I stated in my post about the “Lbs.” movie yesterday that it was my Monday and that I was going to get it done.  Well, I did good yesterday AND today.  So I’m going to take that loss and I’m going to celebrate it.  And I’m determined to keep it going until next week.  The amazing thing is that I showed that loss even though I had eaten one of my banana bread muffins right before getting on the scale!  (I don’t know what I was thinking.)

After entering it into my weight section on my WW online tracker, I clicked to look at the table of weights and losses/gains (which I’ve been fairly afraid to do for quite a while).  And this is what I saw:

February is the first month in almost a year in which I am actually showing a net loss.  I’ve lost 7.4 pounds since the beginning of the month when I began (somewhat) tracking my food again and really began trying again.  I’d say that is a victory!

I’m still WAY far from where I want to be, but I’m making progress and am heading in the right direction – not very fast, but at least I’m pointed in the right direction.  I’m pretty proud of myself.

I’m also only 1.4 pounds higher than where I was at the beginning of January, and 8 pounds above where I was at the beginning of December.  That’s also major progress!  This is doable.

In other news, so far so good with my dad.  *Fingers still crossed*  Unless he’s lying to me about what’s happening when I’m not around, he seems to be doing okay.

When I was talking about “Lbs.” yesterday, I mentioned another movie that Carmine Famiglietti wrote and starred in called “Amexicano.”  I watched it on the instant play feature of Netflix last night and really enjoyed it.  If you can put aside any strong political feelings you may have about Mexican immigrants, and just let yourself be pulled into the story, you might like it as much as I did.

Also, in my apparent quest to own a copy of every single book ever published, written, or conceived of, I picked up two more at Target the other day.  I couldn’t help myself!  I picked up “Thin Is the New Happy,” which I haven’t read yet, and “The Little Giant of Aberdeen County” which I am reading right now. Do you sense a theme? 😉 So far, I am really enjoying “The Little Giant of Aberdeen County.” Have any of you read either of these?

In closing, I got sucked into this song on my way into work, so I dub it today’s theme song:

I’d run with that loss! Although even when I lost my weight originally almost 10 years ago, I never skipped my party pizza Friday night – it was my favorite night of the week – and turns out, still is! 😀

Hi Pamela. Great that you’ve really got things moving in the right direction even though your eating isn’t perfect. This thing definitely is doable!
